VTG S 70s Victor Costa Gown Evening Dress Seashell Ruffle Shelf Bust Taffeta Vintage Victor Costa Elegant Evening Dress with POCKETS Sensational Seashell Ruffle.....Shelf Bust Iridescent Plum Taffeta Special Event.....Oscar Party Up for bid is sensational 70s evening dress from "Victor Costa ltd". There are no fiber content tags but the plum iridescent colored taffeta material makes that wonderful rustle sound when the wearer moves. Although there are no size tags, it measures small. Please see "How I Measure" and measurements below to ensure a proper fit. Features of this sensational vintage dress include a sleeveless shelf bust with a seashell ruffle attached along the sweetheart necking, boning on the sides for shape, a pleated waistline, an extremely full skirt with two side pockets, matching ruffle along the asymmetrical hemline , inside pinked seams, and back zipper for closure. The bodice is lined. There is a strip of fabric along the inside back seam which has me puzzled and I am not sure what it is for: it looks like a belt but half of it is attached to the zipper seam....the rest is loose and tied to not get in the way. Measurements: Underarm to Underarm 17 inches...Approx Bust 34, Underarm to waist 7 3/4 inches, Side of waist to other side of waist 14 inches, Hips are full, and Underarm to bottom hem 48 1/4 inches in the front.....and 50 1/2 inches in the back. The sweep is 197 1/2 inches! This vintage dress is in excellent condition with a few very minor flaws: There is a 1/2 inch open seam on the inside on the right side where the boning is sewn into the fabric (on the side, not top or bottom so the boning is not coming through).....and there are pin holes on the skirt which only show when held up to the light. It could benefit from a proper cleaning as there is surface dirt along the edge of the bodice. If you need more information or photos, please send me an email.
