Description: Original WW2 British map of ITALY entitled "POLA" - a ship building city on the Adriatic Coast which the Germans used as a U-BOAT base. The city is now known as "PULA" and forms part of Croatia. Printed in September 1943, the same month the Allied Invasion of Italy began. Scale 1:100,000. In great condition. From a large collection recently sold off by Edinburgh University - hence ink stamping to margin. (Following both World Wars, the government distributed excess stocks of Allied maps to various national institutions such as libraries, museums, universities etc.) Please see my other WW2 (and WW1) maps, documents, photos etc...
